Gestalten specializes in developing content for aficionados of cutting-edge visual culture worldwide. For us, visual culture is the output resulting from the interrelationship of design, art, architecture, photography, and other visual disciplines with each other as well as other areas such as popular culture and music. In drawing from a variety of influences and combining them in ways not yet seen before, this work is pushing contemporary creative expression to new frontiers.
Always working directly with talented contemporary designers and artists, we bring a deep understanding of visual culture on a global level to whatever we do and remain firmly committed to presenting visual trends with timeless substance. With approximately 30 staff members, the company has offices in Berlin, London, New York, and Tokyo.
Founded in Berlin in 1995, Gestalten is best known for our more than 400 books that document and anticipate vital movements in design, illustration, architecture, and typography as well as urban and contemporary art. We generate the topics for the vast majority of the books that we publish ourselves and compile, edit, and design each publication to be both inspirational and user-oriented.
Gestalten publications are sold in almost 100 countries through bookstores and museum shops as well as specialty and concept stores. Because our books are locally available in so many markets, we come into direct communication with creatives throughout the world. Our books have found resonance not only among a global professional agency and design audience, but also among students, architects, directors, trend scouts, and anyone interested in visual codes.
In addition to documenting creativity through our publications, Gestalten has established an international reputation as a think tank and impulse generator for innovative design. Our clients include Design Hotels, Diesel, Distanz, Hatje Cantz, MTV, Nokia, Redbull, Smart, Uniqlo, Volkswagen, and Zumtobel.
Conceived as an outlet to materialize the world that we publish and bring them to life, Gestalten Space opened its doors in our home city Berlin in April 2011. Here at Gestalten, we are not only thrilled to present our comprehensive collection of books that we have published to date—both new, as well as coveted, hard-to-find archive titles but also to present a striking selection of handpicked and thematically-arranged products by the designers and artists that we have presented through our publications.
Doubling as a platform for exchanging ideas and further enriching and fostering emerging creative processes at the nexus of design and art, the gallery offers an engaging program of exhibitions, lectures, and surprise events.
Since 2003, Gestalten offers a versatile selection of cutting-edge fonts that have been handpicked by our graphic designers and editors for our independent foundry. Gestalten Fonts now features over 120 contemporary typefaces that range in style from refined, elegant, and minimal text fonts to more experimental display, ornamental, script, blackletter, monospaced, stencil, and typewriter fonts.
www.gestaltenfonts.comSince 2007, Gestalten produces biweekly films on visual innovators and leaders who dare to change today's creative landscape with a bold vision. The portraits of these vanguards, rogues, legends, performers, and players can be seen on www.gestalten.tv.

What we need from you is the following. Make up your minds about what it is that makes your idea unique. Send us a brief description with synopsis, content structure, a list of contributors, ideas if you have any about the format, and most importantly, a selection of images to best understand the visual quality of the project along with some background information about yourself toproposals@gestalten.com.
We will then review and discuss the project in one of our editors meetings. Please bear in mind that answering might take some time.
One last thing, we love all things print but please do not send book proposals in the post. Please send your proposal as PDF to the email above.
