Owner of independent British retailer China Carousel to retire after 50 years in china and crystal

With more than 50 years in the china, crystal and gifts retail industry, founder of China Carousel (www.chinacarousel.co.uk) Les Cazin will be retiring on his 70th birthday in May this year.

This will mean the closure of independent British retailer China Carousel, which at its prime had several outlets in London and Hertfordshire, UK.

Les began his 50-plus china retail career almost by accident in 1964, when a friend with five shops and staffing problems asked Les to step in to help out. What started as a month-long favour turned into an eight-year career. Less then went on to have a 20-year career with the Chinacraft Group as a buyer, before setting up China Carousel with his wife.

Les consider the period in the seventies and eighties as his most exciting in the industry when big spenders from the US, Japan and the Middle East would spend fortunes in London on tableware and crystal.

Les will miss the many friends he has made over the years in the trade and would like to thank them for their support.

Good luck Les!
